POP's newest trail, from High Point to Uleda Point, is underway, with @collaborativetrails getting almost a thousand feet of trail built in the first three days of construction. Here's the view from where the trail along Uleda ridge ended last summer (first four pics) then from where the machine is today looking back to where it's going!
If you haven't ridden out onto Uleda Ridge yet, I encourage you to do so. The views down into the Little Sand Creek Watershed are stunning, a truly unique perspective of Sandpoint's frontcountry wilderness.
By late September this high alpine loop trail will be compete and area riders will have a truly unique, spectacular, exciting trail above tree line right in their back yards! And get this, within a couple of years from now we expect the begin building from Uleda Point out towards Bald Mountain, and eventually right down into the Watershed back to Switchback 3 on Schweitzer Mountain Road.
Yes the Watershed Crest Trail is going to happen, and you can be a part of it by joining POP today, then coming out the last Saturdays of July, August, and September for trail work parties in this beautiful alpine trail! We'll meet at 9 am in the Schweitzer parking lot and shuttle up to the trailhead!
Join POP today to help support the expansion of our town and frontcountry trails!

Who’s ready to race?!Just a week away and registration will be here on the 15th. With COVID, we'll be doing things different. First, there will be a virtual time trial option where you and up to 5 riders in a group can come with your Strava app between noon and 4:00 pm and self-register at the picnic area then go and ride the assigned course. We'll have the Strava link up next Tuesday and maps at the picnic area so you'll be able to find the start, course, and finish. Make sure you have your GPS and have it on while riding.
Second option will be to register at 5:00 pm and be assigned a wave start which first wave will begin at 6:30 pm. Subsequent waves will be assigned and staged in our new wider start area. We will be practicing extreme social distancing during registration, wave starts, and at the finish area. Bring your mask. They fit perfect in your jersey pocket just before you race. We will have individual wrapped snacks, water or soda but no BBQ this year after your ride. Just bare bones racing, cool down and get home and rest. We'll have established wave starts after this first Wednesday that will allow for staggered registration for the next 4 nights.
Thank COVID for the no frills this year. But we know there is a large group that is looking to ride and we want to make the next 5 Wednesdays as fun and healthy for those of you that want to test your mountain biking skills.
The Area Consolidate High School and Middle School Mountain Bike Team is managing the series as a fund raiser for their racing later this fall and we'll be following several of their league rules to keep us all healthy and safe.
We'll keep posting info and answering questions over this next week. See you on the 15th. ...
